This page contains everything you need to prepare for your trip in Kenya. We encourage you to go through it religiously and feel free to email us with any questions and or clarifications.

Your Guide

    • Destination Airport: Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. This is where you will get picked up from and taken to the hotel in Nairobi.

    • Trip Start Date: November 1 at 2 PM local time.

    • Aim to arrive in by 2 PM on the start date.

    • Airport transfers will be arranged for all travelers arriving on the designated start day (Nov 1).

    • When you land on day one, our Gojolley driver will pick you up and take you to your hotel.

    • Hotel Information for Lamu - Tulia House Lamu.

    • Shared Accommodation for the entire duration of the trip.

    • Round-trip airport transfers; pickups and drop-offs on the official start and end day.

Your Day - to - Day Itinerary

    • Today marks the beginning of our Kenya adventure! Upon arrival, you'll be transported from the airport to your hotel for check-in.

    • Later, join us for a complimentary welcome dinner where you'll get to know your fellow travelers, discuss the thrilling activities ahead, and receive your Gojolley welcome gift bag.

    • After dinner, return to your room to relax and prepare for the amazing experiences Kenya has to offer!

  • Anything casual and cute for welcome dinner

    • Spend the day exploring the vibrant city of Nairobi and its must-see highlights. Begin with a visit to the Nairobi National Museum, where you’ll dive into Kenya’s rich history, diverse cultures, and heritage.

    • Next, head to the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC), the third tallest building in Kenya.

    • Wrap up your day with a visit to the lively Masai Market, the perfect spot to shop for authentic souvenirs, handmade crafts, and keepsakes to remember your Kenyan adventure.

  • Orange dresses

    • Prepare to be captivated by Kenya’s incredible wildlife and rich cultural heritage.

    • On this day, you get to experience a sunrise game drive early in the morning.

    • You’ll also visit the Elephant Sanctuary, where you'll have the chance to learn about the efforts to protect these majestic animals and even get up close to them.

    • Next, we’ll head to the Giraffe Center, where you can feed and interact with the endangered Rothschild giraffes.

  • Safari colors: Greens, browns, etc.

    • Start your day a Cooking Class where you’ll learn how to prepare traditional Kenyan dishes. It’s the perfect way to end the day by tasting the flavors of Kenya.

    • Before cooking, you’ll visit the market to shop for these ingredients. I’s a way to introduce the various farm produce Kenya has to offer.

    • On day five, embark on a one-hour flight to Lamu Island, a historic gem nestled in the Indian Ocean off Kenya's coast.

    • Founded in the 12th century, Lamu offers a unique charm with its car-free streets, where you'll be transported to your hotel by boat.

    • As the day draws to a close, experience a serene sunset cruise aboard a traditional Dhow boat, taking in the island’s stunning views.

    Note: Round-trip flights to Lamu typically cost around $250 or less and are not included in the package.

    • On your final full day in Kenya, begin with a rejuvenating yoga session to stretch and unwind.

    • After your tranquil morning, take a flight back to Nairobi. Once you arrive, enjoy the remainder of your day at your leisure, exploring the city or simply relaxing before your departure.

More Information for your Trip

    • To enter Kenya, you'll need a passport valid for at least six months beyond your date of entry.

    • All tourists, including US, UK, and Canadian citizens, must apply for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) in order to enter Kenya.

    • You can access the link here, be sure to verify any other specific visa requirements based on your nationality.

    • Culture and Customs: Kenya is rich in cultural diversity and traditions. The country has a mix of ethnic groups, each with its own customs and practices. Respect local customs by dressing modestly, especially when visiting religious sites or rural areas.

    • Language: The official languages of Kenya are Swahili & English. While English is widely spoken in tourist areas, knowing a few basic Swahili phrases can enhance your experience and demonstrate respect for the locals.

    • Health and Safety: Drink only bottled or filtered water to avoid illness. Regularly apply sunscreen, as the sun can be intense. Keep an eye on your belongings and be aware of your surroundings to avoid petty theft, especially in crowded tourist areas.

    • Currency: The local currency is the Kenyan Shilling (KES), While most of your trip expenses are covered, we recommend bringing around $300-500 for personal expenses. 

    • Environmental Responsibility: Kenya faces environmental issues such as deforestation and pollution. Practice responsible tourism by reducing plastic waste, supporting eco-friendly businesses, and respecting nature and wildlife.

    • Single-use plastic bags are completely banned in Kenya.

  • Visa Application

    • Please check your eligibility with your local Kenya embassy or consulate well in advance.

    • If you do require a visa, we recommend applying online or at your nearest consulate early to avoid delays.

    Flight Itinerary Submission

    • By October 7, please submit your confirmed flight details for logistic preparations.

    Information Collection

    • We’d love for you to complete this form so we can make the most accurate roommate pairings to ensure you have a comfortable stay.

    • Clothing: Bring light, breathable clothing for warm weather, and layer up for cooler evenings. Cotton fabrics work well to keep you cool. A light jacket or shawl is handy for chilly nights.

    • Footwear: Pack comfortable walking shoes or sneakers for sightseeing. Sandals or flip-flops are great for casual wear.

    • Swimwear: Though Kenya isn’t known for beaches, swimwear is essential if you plan to use the hotel pool.

    • Electronics and Adapters: Don’t forget your camera or smartphone to capture memories. Bring a universal adapter for charging your devices, as plug sockets may differ from those in your home country.

    • Sun Protection: The sun can be intense. Pack sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses for protection.

    • Hydration: Carry a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated, especially in warmer temperatures or at higher altitudes.

    • Toiletries and Essentials: Pack travel-sized toiletries. While many accommodations provide basics, having your preferred items is convenient.

    • Daypack: A small daypack or tote bag is useful for carrying essentials during excursions.

    • Medications and First Aid: Bring any necessary medications and a basic first aid kit, including pain relievers, anti-diarrhoea medication, and any prescriptions you need.
